Last updated: March 19, 2026

JennyTalk is designed to support children with communication challenges. This policy describes the requirements for parental or guardian consent and supervision when a child uses JennyTalk.

1. Who This Policy Applies To

This policy applies to all users who create or manage a JennyTalk account on behalf of a child under the age of 18, including:

  • Parents or legal guardians
  • Licensed educators or special education professionals
  • Healthcare providers acting in an authorized caregiving capacity
  • Any authorized adult supervising a minor's use of the application

2. Consent Requirements

2.1 Account Creation

An adult must create and register the account. By creating an account on behalf of a child, you confirm that you are:

  • The child's parent, legal guardian, or authorized educator
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally authorized to consent on behalf of the minor

2.2 Mandatory Consent Acknowledgments

During onboarding, the supervising adult must affirmatively check all of the following:

  • ✅ I am a parent, legal guardian, or authorized educator
  • ✅ I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  • ✅ I consent to supervised use of JennyTalk by a child in my care

These checkboxes are required. The account cannot be created without all three being confirmed.

3. Supervision Requirements

JennyTalk requires that all children use the application under active adult supervision. The supervising adult is responsible for:

  • Monitoring the child's use of the application
  • Ensuring the application is used appropriately
  • Managing account settings, custom phrases, and vocabulary
  • Reviewing and approving any content added to the application

4. Data and Privacy Protections for Children

JennyTalk is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent obtained through the adult account holder.

4.2 What We Collect for Child Accounts

For accounts used by children, we only collect:

  • The child's first name (optional, for display purposes)

  • App preferences (language, display settings)

4.3 What We Never Collect

  • ❌ Voice recordings or audio of the child
  • ❌ Photos, video, or biometric data
  • ❌ Precise location data
  • ❌ School records or educational data beyond what's needed to provide the service

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:

  • Review the information we have collected about your child
  • Correct any inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your child's data at any time
